Today on LK Blog: Veterans Remember D-Day in 65th Anniversary, E3 Conference in California wows Gamers, and 25 Years of Tetris Special

Sorry for the digital tumble-weed thats been bouncing through the Blog recentley, I'm back now.

Today marks the 65th anniversary of the Normandy Landings on the 6th of June, 1944, when thousands of British, American, Canadian and other Allied forces assaulted the beaches of northern France in 'Operation Overlord', the Allied offensive for the beggining of the invasion and liberation of Nazi-Occupied Europe.
US President Barack Obama, Gordon Brown and Nicolas Sarkozy came together today in the Bayeux Cathedral and on the beach of Arromanches to pay their respects to the many young men lost their lives in the assault.

In other news; the anuall E3 Conference in the US has made headlines this week with Nintendo announcing Super Mario Galaxy 2, a Wii-Remote extension the measures your pulse, and the new Motion Plus plug-in accesory, released with Wii Sports 2 in July that greatly increases the accuracy of the Wii's Motion Sensing capabilities.
Sony also announced many new games, a new, smaller PSP,'Go', said to be a retaliation to Nintendo's DSi.

Microsoft's Project Natal for the Xbox has also caused much excitement, a revoultionary 'controller-less' gaming system experience that can recognize faces and voices.

And Finally, Happy Birthday to the Game Phenomenom that is Tetris, still going strong after 25 years.
Russian Mathematician Alexey Pajitnov created the game in 1984, but Tetris was made famous in 1989 when it was sold with the Gameboy, selling 35 million copies.
